Keepsakes - Elegant Bridal Party Gifts Fit For Your Loved Ones

"I am getting married in 5 days! The past 5 months of preparation has been a roller coaster ride. Close family relatives and old friends went out of their way to help me out and now I have decided to hold a thank-you and give them bridal party gifts - something really special."

If you're like Marie, who has a mind full of things to think about, but would like to offer thoughtful bridal party gifts, we'll make things easier for you.

Here are some unique (and affordable) bridal party gift ideas to give for a specific member of your bridal party:

1. His or Her Parents
You are thinking about giving a present to your future mom and dad. The best bridal party gifts for the in-laws would be something they are fond of; an item that you could add to their collection. Ask your future spouse about what they love and you'll get a hint of what to buy for them.

In Marie's case, she bought her in-laws something engraved. For her father in law, it was an Engraved Stainless Steel Army Knife and for her mother in-law, an Engraved Glass Vase.

2. Your Parents
It would be much better to give your parents bridal party gifts that are funny - or a family joke. It does not mean that the gift must be hilarious. It can be something your whole family can relate to and laugh about.

For Marie's family, it was a pair of Personalized Flip Flops. Some families do not like wearing slippers at home and this can be a source of something to giggle on. You can embroider funny quotes like: "Lorna's slave" for your dad and "Mike's nanny" for your mom.

3. Your Flower Girl or Ring Bearer
Little girls and little boys have the tendency to lose a gift.

A very nice idea for kids as bridal party gifts would be a Personalized Candy Jar or Personalized Candy Barrel. It could be chocolate or jelly beans inside with different colors or you could also make it all pink or lilac for the girls and blue for the boys. Knowing their favorite color would be helpful as you can choose that as well.

They could munch on it and keep the jar or barrel as a container for their smaller toys afterward.

4. Your Bridesmaids
As the saying goes, "Diamonds are a girl's best friend." In this case, Marie can't afford a diamond but Swarovski would be a worthy substitute. Swarovski Crystal Bracelet with Monogram Charm is a best seller for bridesmaid gifts because most "girls" love jewelry.

The great thing about choosing Swarovski crystals is that you can select whatever color you like to give for a particular girlfriend, cousin or sister.

5. Your Groomsmen or Best Man
Guys are not hard to please. Engraved Cuff Links for the young professionals would be a very appropriate gift. You could also give them Personalized Pilsner Glasses, Personalized Wine Glasses or Personalized Wine Gift Set. These are wonderful bridal party gifts sets.

6. Your Maid or Matron of Honor
She could be your best friend or your sister and it would not be that difficult to find elegant bridesmaid gifts for your constant companion.

Marie chose her twin to be matron of honor and gave her an Engraved Jewelry Box with her name on top. Inside could be something very personal for the both of you -old letters. Touch her heart since she is the second busiest person after you.

You could also make matching Personalized Weekend Tote Bags or Cosmetics Bags. Personalized Silk Jewelry Pouches are also very chic especially if she is a jewelry fanatic. You can also insert an Engraved Rhinestone Toggle Bracelet in that pouch for an added touch.

It's the thought that counts. You don't have to buy them designer bridal party gifts just to say thank you for their support.

Among the Keepsakes of Wedding Traditions, Superstitions Are the Longest Lasting

When my headdress was about to be placed on my stiff-with-hair-spray head, my mother asked for a happily married matron among the women in the family. No one stepped forward; although, quite a few married women were in the room. So, my mother called my aunt who seemed to be the most happily married person around. Something had to be right with that superstition because my marriage has lasted several decades and it seems to be continuing on an even keel. For the happiness to be handed down from generation to generation, the placing of the headdress probably corresponds with the wearing of the garter or something borrowed.

When it comes to weddings, our most superstitious selves surface from the depths of our culture's common conscience. Since I have always considered myself a citizen of the world, it is a good thing that, at the time of my wedding, I did not know about all the wedding superstitions in the world. Otherwise, I would have been a nervous wreck.

The common superstitions we know of--such as the bride having on something blue and something new or the tin cans attached behind the couple's car--are based on the centuries-old beliefs in good or bad luck and chasing away evil spirits.

Avoiding bad luck has always been a major concern. Even the day or the month in which one gets married has a say in a couple's fortune. For example: "Marry in the month of May, and you'll surely rue the day," and "Marry on Monday for wealth, on Tuesday for health."

Then, the flowers in the wedding have superstitions attached to them, too; however, the superstition of one region may be at odds with the superstition of another region. In some Middle Eastern cultures, the bride has to carry white Calla Lilies. Yet, lilies in other cultures are associated with death.

Superstitions connected with the wedding attire are plentiful. We all know of the belief that bans the groom from seeing the bride in her wedding dress before the wedding. I wonder if toting or holding a red umbrella over a bride, as the Chinese believed, would help evade many an unhappy marriage in the west, and heaven forbid if a bride's dress gets torn before the wedding, for that would mean death.

Before Queen Victoria introduced the white wedding dress, wedding dresses were made in colors and each color had a certain superstition attached to it according to the region. With the exception of the Irish brides, wearing green meant promiscuity due to rolling on green grass, and therefore, bad luck. Then, the bridesmaids' same color and style dresses were thought to chase off evil spirits by confusing them.

The bridal veil has descended from the Roman times to protect the bride by disguising her; however, after a few centuries, the veil has symbolized chastity.

Although most superstitions revolve around the bride, the groom, too, is not exempt from stepping into bad luck and that has been the primary reason for the best man's existence. The best man carries a good luck charm in his pocket and sees to it that the groom arrives to the ceremony before the bride, to avoid bad luck, of course.

During the ceremony, the Jewish groom breaks a glass, and in most cultures, the bride stands to the left of the groom probably to let his right hand to stay free for his sword to defend her. Another job for most grooms is to carry their brides over the threshold of their new home. In its origin, this probably had nothing to do with luck; it was there to avoid the bride's tripping over the threshold in her long gown.

Anything circular is good luck, too. While in my son's wedding unity candles placed in a circle plate signified the union of the two families, some couples circle around the room to unite the families. In Greece, couples circle the altar three times for Holy Trinity; the Sikhs circle six times while rose petals are thrown at them; and Mexican couples are circled or knotted together by a large ring of rosary beads. In Finland, however, no knots are allowed. They are replaced by matches to keep the love burning.

Talking of keeping the love burning, the luckiest part of the wedding has to be the kiss, because it is so romantic. In the olden times, in most cultures, the kiss was deemed to be the only requirement in place of the marriage vows.

Wedding superstitions are too numerous to count one by one, and luckily, they reflect the playful side of us. They are not to be taken seriously but they are there to be enjoyed.

Still, in your weddings and in your life, may good luck be with you always.

Your wedding photos and music to make them eternal, Artistic Keepsakes

If the rule of thumb is to plan a wedding, a year before the start time, rent a photographer and a cameraman, or at least ask, should apply to their use as closely as possible, with the same date. Acquiring a good relationship with the photographer soon important because you want him to attend your wedding from beginning to end, so That each of them can capture memorable moment for you remember many years later.

With imagination and elaborate weddings, and improvisedWeddings and weddings small budget, a good photographer will have to rent the most important person. Most photographers, as they have an eye for color and design, giving valuable advice in the design stage before the couple and their parents start spending money.

After the wedding of the daughter of a friend when the wedding photos arrived, breaking the bride bride in tears. They thought that if the press, the reason and background pansy purple and pink bridesmaid dresses and mixedcollided with each other, so that the bride and groom ridiculous in a business environment. If they had consulted beforehand with the photographer for the colors and designs of flowers, decorations, background, and the bridesmaids dresses, 'heartache could be avoided.

My daughter-in-law very relevant Hired a photographer, gave her a good deal with the addition of videography in the total price. Also, when you discovered that the beach with the sun coming up meantleaves much to the couple made an appointment with them, their photos on a local beach at dawn, were adopted. He had dressed in evening gowns and extended the best picture size 16''x 20''in. He sat a large white border around the photo and all married, signed at the border, scribbled a wish or two. Well, this is one of the key areas for the couple. It 'really priceless.

If you're on a budget and can not afford to influence the imagination of the photographer suggestsYou can choose to put on a poster board to stand for all the guests thought the marriage ', wishes and signatures. Make sure you have enough space in the center of the field for a wedding. It 's a wonderful memory, not only for you But to come to your great-grandchildren.

Give the photographer the freedom to create candid shots and let him practice his art style is always working to benefit the couple. An expert photographer take the pairRequests into consideration and there. The photographer's involvement in every step of the way makes it possible to feel better with the couple and their families to interact, to see and learn their best angle before marriage.

Photographers believe wedding photography is my nephew recommended the couple against their functioning outdoor wedding at noon, when the worst time to take photos, found. Decided on a wedding in the late afternoon and early evening until lateoccupied. Everyone was happy with the result because the photos and videos were shown spectacular.

A good photographer makes all visitors to the wedding photos. With close relatives and friends of the couple in the front row, every person who made the marriage deserves at least a group of his image. Give photographer the list and provides guests upon their arrival is a good idea. Who does not want to be a magnificent album of wedding photos and show aVideo recorded, although many years after the wedding of a blurred image in more than anyone to mind?

If you have another camera other than the photographer, is a good idea to let him know, a few weeks before the wedding, how you make things better. Before taking a cameraman, always ask to see samples of his work. For videography, shooting with a soft light box turns out to be better than the flash or video light. The audio quality is as important as video quality. The choice of aDVD recording instead of a DVD is always a good idea because it allows DVD chapters and scene selection divided. A DVD will give you the high quality images and graphics.

However, the most important tip: you, the bride or groom, when the big day comes, remember, looking into the camera. Your photographer will capture as a person, not just a pretty picture.

May you and all brides and grooms Enjoy exceptional photo and videoMemorabilia estimate for the rest of your life.

Christmas Ornaments Make Beautiful Keepsakes

Christmas is a sacred occasion. This time of the year, traditions are everywhere around the place. We try to do something new every Christmas. Almost everybody of us wish to decorate our homes with new Christmas ornaments. Every year we bring home fresh Christmas ornaments. How many have you collected over these years?

For years, I have been collecting my Christmas ornaments. Now when I look at them in my free time, I have tears in my eyes. They refresh all my Christmas memories. Who says only girls are fond of collecting Christmas ornaments?

Men are more possessive about their Christmas memories, especially if they are hand-made. They associate Christmas ornaments with their mother and grandmothers. Is there a nice way to store all these ornaments to make a life time memory? Yes, you can make a nice keepsake box to keep your ornaments unspoiled. When the ornaments are so special, can you stand an ordinary box? Make a pleasant keepsake box for your children. You should prefer a bigger box so that your children can store their Christmas ornaments for years to come.

We will help you make a fine keepsake box. You would need a raw wooden box, resistant and enduring, with a lid. Make a layer of sponge inside your box. This layer ensures that your box edges become covered and blunt. To adorn your box, you need paint brushes, ribbons, glitters, sprays, glue and craft paper. You can browse through the internet to get an idea of some eye catching designs. There's no limit to design, styles, patterns and drawings in which you can decorate your box. A little bit of imagination and creativity can make a beautiful keepsake box. After your keepsake box is ready, it is time to store your Christmas ornaments in the box.

The best approach is to divide your keepsake box into sections. Don't just throw in the ornaments. Arrange them in an organized manner in order to stamp out all probability of damage. Glass ornaments are breakable and fragile. They need to be stored with utmost care. Breakable ornaments should be stored in special containers. These containers should be a little large in size. Fill the empty space with some malleable substance to prevent any breakage. Your keepsake box should be spacious enough to store Christmas garlands. Label your Christmas ornaments nicely. This way you will have a clear idea about the year you bought your particular ornament in.

Tackle Your Keepsakes - How to Organize & Preserve Your Life's Mementos

We all have them - bits and pieces of memorabilia piled high in corners or hidden in plastic bags. The thought of organizing them seems completely overwhelming. I'm going to walk you step by step through the different methods of storing and organizing your memorabilia to properly preserve them for years to come.

1. The Quick Sort

Gather your keepsakes in one place place, preferably a table or other large, comfortable workspace. Next, group similar items together (like with like) using baskets or boxes you've labeled with the types of mementos you have.
Some common categories include: photos, kid's artwork, cards, certificates & other documents, crafts and projects.

2. The Purge

Letting go of personal memorabilia tends to be hard, especially if you are a sentimental soul. Yet, when you pare down your keepsakes, you will feel a sense of lightness, as though you've been released from a heavy burden. The goal is to make room for what matters most. Let go of items that you no longer find meaningful or remind you of a time you'd rather forget. Keep only the things that stir your heart or capture important events. Save only what you have space for and keep in mind that things are always coming in so leave some room to grow.

Photos are probably the hardest item to throw away because of the sentimental value we attach to them. Weed out bad shots to make it easier to enjoy the good ones. Tossing doesn't mean you're throwing away the person in it. It's okay to give away duplicates or toss photos that are blurry, bad angles or unbecoming. Save the best - toss the rest.

Kids Artwork: Work together with your child to choose a few of his favorite pieces of artwork each year. If you keep every single piece of artwork your child brings home for the next 15 years it will crowd you out of your home. Find the diamonds.

Take photos of large artwork, crafts or school project. Keep the photo - toss the bulk.

3. Practice Safe Storage

When storing your items, use archival quality, acid free products. Acid is a chemical substance that can weaken paper and cloth, causing it to brown and become brittle. Never store photographs and other treasured items with newspaper, which contains acid that will eventually damage your mementos.

4. Contain It

Photos: If you've been planning to start a scrapbook or put your photos in albums but never seem to get around to it, let go of the pressure and guilt of those stressful procrastination projects can create, especially if you are already overwhelmed by clutter and commitments. A quick, easy and inexpensive alternative is a photo box. Photo boxes come in many styles and colors to suit your taste and décor. Use the same boxes so they'll look neat when stacked. Choose the ones that come with index divider tabs so you can organize your photos in broad categories. Some common categories include: pets, trips, friends, and family. Another way of grouping photos is by stage of life, i.e. high school, college, after marriage, after kids, etc. Eventually, each category may grow to have it's own box, which you can label on the outside. Gather all your photos and play beat the clock while you group them. Do it while watching TV or listening to music

Kids Artwork: Things that lay flat, like artwork, notebooks, and essays, can be stored chronologically in a sturdy, portable plastic tote or binder depending on space and amount you have to store. Encourage your kids to file their papers after they bring them home; you'll be teaching them valuable life skill.

Report cards, certificates, ticket stubs - even locks of hair should go in polypropylene sheet protectors. Polypropylene sleeves are free from damaging plasticizers found in other plastics that lift print off inserts. Choose the ones that are already 3-holed punched and keep papers organized using tab dividers labeled by category.

Cards & other keepsakes: Small keepsakes that don't lay flat can be stored in a treasure chest the size of a shoebox. I like to gather special occasion cards and tie them with pretty ribbon before putting them in the box.

5. Designate a home

Keep your containers in a dry location, away from direct sunlight, bugs, mold, dust, and dirt. Avoid storing them in attics, garages or basements

6. Maintain Your System

Purge regularly (at least once a year) and enjoy going down memory lane. Weed out stale mementoes to make room for next year's fresh memories. It's no different from pulling the weeds in your garden so you can enjoy the flowers.

Take the time to preserve and honor you're the things that are most important to you so you and your family can enjoy them for years to come.

Saving Family Keepsakes for Scrapbooking

I'm new to scrapbooking, and I still can't believe all the possibilities there are for scrapbook layouts.

When I first began I pulled out and organized a lot of my daughter's childhood photos. Also collecting dust on my closet shelf was a box of other family keepsakes I'd kept throughout the years.

For example, when we went to Disney World, in addition to all the pictures we had taken, I kept the plane tickets, the cards you get to open your hotel door, meal vouchers, luggage tags, post cards, and theme park passes. These will make a fun addition to our Disney World-themed scrapbook pages.

For school, there are a number of things you can keep. Certificates, award ribbons, and report cards are just a couple of ideas. You can also break this category down into smaller ones, like school sports, plays, band, etc. I've kept all of the programs from my daughter's school plays, which will make a great addition to the pictures I have of her "in character."

Other keepsakes might include handmade cards or little notes your child might have left you from time to time. These memories are priceless, and could never be re-created even if you tried. Keeping these treasures in a family scrapbook will ensure the memories are preserved.

For holiday memories, you might have childhood Christmas wish lists, family letters, holiday cards, party invitations, or favorite family holiday recipes. I even keep thank-you cards I have received.

Looking through my box I also found some other types of family memories that would also make great themed scrapbook pages. Wedding announcements, funeral programs, and graduation announcements are a great complement to your family photographs.

Hopefully these ideas will get you thinking of things you might have tucked away somewhere that would be a great addition to your scrapbooking projects. If not, it's never too late to start.

Personalized Wedding Favors - Elegant Keepsakes

Personalized wedding favors add a wonderful touch to any guest gift. They have the bride and groom's name and possibly the date of the event engraved or printed. From cute, funny little gifts to elegant keepsakes, there is something to fit any style, theme and budget. Many couples have a rehearsal dinner or cocktail party a day or two before the wedding. Personalized beverage or luncheon napkins are foil printed and are easy for guest to carry home. If you prefer one gift for the women, with a different gift for the men, compact mirrors, mini lip balm, shot glasses and golf balls are popular selections.

Many people don't like the idea that their gifts will be discarded after the wedding. As a result, many couples choose personalized wedding favors that are fun as well as functional. Travel-sized bar tool kits are stylish guest gifts for couples. Wine glasses and champagne flutes can be silk-screened and personalized with a variety of themes and information. They can be stemless for a contemporary feel or traditionally styled. If the ceremony or reception will be outside during the spring or summer, silk fans are perfect accessories for keeping your guests cool and chic.

If you are assembling gift bags to be given to your guests at check in, personalized chocolate bars and travel sewing kits will be appreciated additions. After a long flight, a chocolate bar will be a welcome pick-me-up. The wrappers are personalized with your name and wedding date. There always seems to be a ripped pocket, loose button or unraveled thread at these events. Your guests will relax knowing that if it does happen to them, they will be able to fix it quickly and easily without missing any of the festivities.

Luggage tags, and photo frames make wonderful personalized wedding favors and can double as place card holders. When purchased in bulk, they will be less than two dollars each. They are perfect for destination weddings, as they can be used almost immediately. Key chains are less than one dollar and are great favors. They can contain lip balm, bottle openers and measuring tapes for added practicality. These are simple, inexpensive mementos to let your guests know that you are glad they could be there with you.
